First Dirt Through Fenix Weld Range

MAX PLANT WELD RANGE FENIX CRUSHING AND SCREENING IRON ORE PROCESSING PLANT AUSTRALIAN MINING

A Major Milestone for Fenix and MAX Plant

October marks a significant achievement for the combined project team, with first material successfully processed through the new MAX Plant crushing and screening plant at Fenix’s Weld Range project in Western Australia’s Mid West.

This milestone represents the completion of a fast-tracked journey from engineering proposal through detailed design, Australian manufacturing, site installation and commissioning. It also marks the fourth MAX Plant processing plant to operate across Fenix mine sites in the Mid West, reinforcing a strong working relationship built around practical engineering, local capability and reliable project delivery.

Designed Around the Customer’s Orebody

Every MAX Plant processing solution is developed around the customer’s orebody, operating requirements and production objectives. The Weld Range plant was engineered specifically for Fenix using detailed process simulations and plant modelling to optimise the circuit for the required throughput and product outcomes.

The result is a purpose-built modular crushing and screening plant capable of processing approximately 800 to 850 tonnes per hour.

The Weld Range Plant Incorporates

  • A modular primary crushing station
  • Dual cone crushers for secondary crushing
  • Multiple screening circuits
  • Lump and fines product streams
  • Automated sampling stations
  • Radial stockpile conveyors
  • Integrated electrical, control and automation systems
  • Safety, maintenance and access infrastructure designed into the plant from the outset

Together, these systems form a fully integrated processing solution designed to maximise production performance while maintaining safety, reliability and maintainability.

Australian Designed and Australian Made

The Weld Range plant reflects the strength of Australian engineering and manufacturing. The majority of the plant was engineered, manufactured and assembled in Western Australia before being transported to site, where the project team completed installation, commissioning and handover to operations.

Keeping engineering, manufacturing and project delivery close to the customer provides direct access to technical expertise, supports Australian jobs and manufacturing capability, and enables tighter quality control from concept through to production. This local delivery model is central to MAX Plant’s commitment to building robust mineral processing equipment for Australian operating conditions.

Built on Decades of Engineering Experience

MAX Plant forms part of the Striker Group, drawing on more than two decades of experience designing, manufacturing and supporting crushing, screening and material handling equipment for mining, quarrying and resource operations around the world.

While the Weld Range project has been delivered under the MAX Plant brand, it is backed by the engineering, manufacturing and project delivery capabilities of Striker. This allows customers to work with a single Australian partner from concept and process design through to manufacturing, installation, commissioning and ongoing support.

The Weld Range project demonstrates how the combined Striker and MAX Plant capability can deliver complete mineral processing solutions, integrating engineering, manufacturing, logistics, site installation and commissioning under one experienced project team.

Strategic Project Partners

Successful project delivery depends on strong collaboration across engineering, manufacturing and site execution. MAX Plant acknowledges its strategic project partners Black + White Contracting, responsible for the mechanical installation, and MH Electrical, responsible for the electrical installation.

Working alongside the MAX Plant and Fenix teams, these partners helped bring the complete plant together safely and efficiently on site. Their contribution demonstrates the value of experienced Australian project partners working as one integrated delivery team.

End-to-End Project Delivery

A key advantage of the MAX Plant approach is the ability to deliver a complete mineral processing project from concept through to commissioning, handover and long-term support.

Integrated Project Delivery

The Weld Range project was delivered through a fully integrated project delivery model encompassing:

  • Process engineering, plant simulation and flowsheet development
  • Detailed mechanical, structural, electrical and control system engineering
  • Procurement and supply chain management
  • Australian manufacturing, fabrication and assembly
  • Quality assurance and factory acceptance processes
  • Logistics, transport and delivery management
  • Construction and site installation through strategic project partners
  • Commissioning, performance testing and operator training
  • Operational readiness, documentation and plant handover
  • Long-term maintenance, servicing and lifecycle support

This integrated approach provides Fenix with one project team managing the complete plant lifecycle, supporting faster decisions, consistent quality and a smoother transition from design to production.

From First Dirt to the Next Project

First material through the Weld Range plant is more than a commissioning milestone. It validates months of engineering, thousands of fabrication hours, extensive logistics planning and the combined effort of the manufacturing, installation and commissioning teams.

As commissioning continues and production ramps up at Weld Range, the project team is already moving on to the next delivery. A strong long-term order book includes plants and equipment for gold, iron ore, tungsten, salt and potash projects, among others, demonstrating the diverse mineral processing capability of the Striker and MAX Plant range across mobile, modular and fixed plant solutions.

The Weld Range achievement reflects what is possible when Fenix, Striker, MAX Plant and experienced Australian project partners combine innovative engineering, Australian manufacturing and disciplined site execution. It is an important milestone for the team, for Fenix’s Mid West operations and for the continued growth of Australian-designed and Australian-made mineral processing equipment.

From concept and engineering to first dirt through the plant, Weld Range demonstrates the capability of Australian project delivery at its best.
